The Cape Verde Islands are an ex Portugese colony having gained independence in 1975 but still retain a European legal and government system which makes them an attractive proposition for investors. The islanders have also retained their own identity and language, a fusion of the best of Africa and Europe, resulting in a vibrant Creole culture similar to that in Brazil. flight + hotel packages from May 2007. Direct flights are due to start from Dublin in late 2006 for winter holidays.
